Exploring the Future - Engineering and Drawing in Manufacturing

This past Monday, Spectrum hosted another Chippewa County Explorer Program (CCEP) event. The focus this month was on Engineering and Drawing in Manufacturing.

CCEP is a new collaborative program between Chippewa County, the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation, and the Boy Scouts of America to add an addition to the Scouts' Explorer Program, which provides hands-on career experiences to scouts starting at age 12.

The students worked with Spectrum employees to develop their own designs for a multiple device charger and use Solid Edge CAD to draw the base. Students also designed a personalized metal piece that will be laser cut at Spectrum and applied to the finished product.
Spectrum Explorers will meet the first Monday of each month to learn about all the various aspects of manufacturing, including:
  • Research & Development
  • Engineering
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Skilled Trades
  • Logistics
  • Business/Accounting

In addition all of this, participants will receive soft skills training such as how to conduct themselves in an interview and how responsible, productive employees should act.

For more information on the Spectrum Explorers events please contact Jennifer Lindstrom: 715-738-2169 or jlindstrom@spectrumfurniture.com

About the CCEP

The CCEP is a new program designed to assist Chippewa County young adults (ages 12-20) make a more informed decision about future careers and determine if a particular career is the right one for them. This program is a worksite-based program that gives Chippewa County youths an opportunity to visit local businesses and explore the dynamics of various local careers. Career Exploring is new to Chippewa County and aims to help participants learn more about careers that can be pursued locally.

These Chippewa County businesses have made a commitment to Chippewa County’s youth and career development by hosting a Career Explorer Post at their business. Youth may choose which Explore Post they want to participate at- each post will provide insight into educational requirements, job outlook, and vocational skills necessary to pursue careers in that particular field.

CCEDC encourages all Chippewa County young adults ages 12-20 to participate in an open house opportunity and ultimately choose an Explorer Post in Chippewa County to participate in. Meet Our Territory Managers! February Edition

The first Wednesday of each month we are featuring one of our Territory Managers. This month you have a chance to get to know Drew Cave - Territory Manager of North Texas and Oklahoma.

The rapid growth of school technology in Texas and Oklahoma has made it an exciting time in Drew’s territory. “It has given Spectrum the opportunity to develop innovative products to support ever-changing needs,” he said. Our new lectern lineup with the Expressions laminates has also proven to be a great addition to our product line.  The feedback in the field has been great.

Having previously worked for a furniture company that specialized in solutions for the Education market in North Texas, Drew has brought sales experience, along with his degree in Economics from the University of TX, to work for Spectrum and his customers.

Drew says the best part of his job is the outstanding team he works with at Spectrum.  “I am fortunate to be a part of such a talented and supportive company,” said Drew. He finds that his customers value the quality of our products and appreciate the outstanding service that Spectrum delivers.

While not traveling to visit customers and attend trade shows, Drew enjoys spending time in his hometown of Richardson, TX with his wife, Morgan, a 5th grade teacher. They are looking forward to the arrival of their first child, a boy, due in February.
